Automobiles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were alerted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Police state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then found many other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.

Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.

An important political figure said the vandalism left him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
